Metal Lotus

Laney P is a Nu Metal singer/songwriter based in Amarillo, Texas, US. When asked about her style and influences, she replied, "I mean as far as guitar playing it would have to be the songs I've had learn [so] mostly 80's rock, George Lynch, Vivian Campbell, the guitarists from Iron Maiden". "My absolute favorite bands are Queensryche and Stryper". Laney P got her start in music at the age of 8, when her parents purchased a grand piano for her to practice on. Since then she has blossomed across several different instruments, which led to the creation of her Debut EP Album, titled, Metal Lotus. Enjoy!

"The two songs on "Out of Darkness" were born during the Covid-19 pandemic", Elaine explains when asked about her writing process. Isolation for months because of the pandemic and in addition to this, Laney had just started her chemotherapy for Stage 3 colon cancer. She would endure an entire six months of chemo, sometimes having a loss of feeling in her fingers, making it frustrating to play. Nonetheless, destiny took the reigns, and thus was born, "Metal Lotus".

A self-taught player, Laney has always had a keen interest in music, and began tinkering with guitar and piano at a young age. While she didn't start playing guitar professionally unil she was almost age 40, she surely has wasted no time at all catching up with some of the Rock-N-Roll legends that came before her. Learning all the songs she loved as a youth, and expanding on them all as she learned. Eventually she began writing her own songs and lyrics.

"All of the instruments, and the vocals are all done by me", "with the exception of the guttural vocals", (Derek Corzine), "and the drum tracks I write on a drum machine", "Other than that, everything you hear is me".

When asked about the reality of the songs she has written, she responded, "So much harsh reality was thrown at me beginning in December, 2019, "...starting with the passing of my Dad, then the pandemic hit, and I had a cancer diagnosis...I uncovered a lot of hidden truths about people that I thought had loved me; all at the same time."

"I'm 52 years old. I'm not trying to hide my age, I'm grateful to have made it to 52! I finally understand Living In the Moment and how to appreciate everything around me", "I know I started late in the music game, learning guitar at 40, and even now writing music at 52 [but] I felt that it was important for my grandbabies to see me get up and do things, make these huge accomplishments, even after suffering so much heartache."

"It's NEVER too late to pick up an instrument and learn it, no matter what age you are."
